Marinara Sauce
This recipe makes 12 (1/2 cup) servings
INGREDIENTS
1 cup chopped Scallions (green onions)
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 tablespoon finely chopped fresh oregano
1/2 tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil
1/2 teaspoon ground dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon ground coarse black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
1 teaspoon olive oil
6-1/4 cup canned diced tomatoes
3/4 cup vegetable stock
1 bay leaf
2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 tablespoon finely chopped fresh oregano
1/2 tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil
1/2 teaspoon ground dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon ground coarse black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
1 teaspoon olive oil
6-1/4 cup canned diced tomatoes
3/4 cup vegetable stock
1 bay leaf
2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
DIRECTIONS
- In a large saucepan over MEDIUM-LOW/MEDIUM heat, saute onion, garlic, oregano, basil, thyme, black pepper and red pepper flakes in olive oil until onions are soft.
- Add diced tomatoes and bring to a simmer.
- Add remaining ingredients except for parsley and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for one-and-a-half to two hours, stirring frequently.
- Stir in parsley.
